Collection and use of personal information
I use Google Analytics to track activity on the site. This is to help me make sure I’m building a site that is relevant and useful to the right potential clients.
My golden rule in business is ‘Don’t be a d***’ and the same rule applies here. I don’t farm, share, sell or otherwise exploit the data.
However, I can’t tell you what Google do with the data and if that is something you worry about, then I strongly recommend using the Mozilla Firefox web browser and using the No Script plug in, so that you can control what scripts are running in the browser.
If you do choose to do this, then you’ll need to let scripts from nyud.com (cloud hosting) and subtlesensor.com run, in order to make sure my site runs properly – and its up to you if you want to allow or deny permission to scripts from google analytics etc.
When you visit my website, it may place a text file called a “cookie” or a cache file in the browser directory of your computer’s hard drive. A cookie is a small piece of information that a website can store on your web browser and later retrieve. Cookies enable the website to recognize the information you have consented to give and help it determine what portions of the website are most appropriate for your professional needs.
They’re predominantly used on this site to help cache pages you’ve already viewed so that they load faster next time. If you’re concerned, your Internet browser software probably has a setting allowing you to refuse any cookies placed on your hard drive.
I don’t store any contact details, not for people who comment on my blog, nor for people who use my contact form. So I won’t be sending notifications about special promotions, new products or services, or other information that may interest you.
If your contact results in me providing a service to you or your business, then, obviously, I’ll store your contact details in my phone or email account so that I can stay in touch with you. But I’ll only contact you regarding the job. I’m too lazy to send spam emails or monthly newsletters.
If at any time you believe that Subtle Sensor has not followed the above policy, or if you would like your information removed from the mailing list, please use the Contact page to let me know.
If you make a transaction or licence use of any of the content on my site, I may need to keep information about the transaction (for tax purposes).
Finally a note about the behaviour of links on my site. Internal links (linking to content on this site) will open in the same window/tab and you can use the back key of your browser to get back to the source page. External links (linking to other websites) open in a new window/tab so that you can look at them at your leisure without having to leave my site straight away (unless you want to of course!).
